When a landlord steals the money found by labourers, Gangvaa comes to their rescue and kills their boss and his men. He becomes a hero when he, along with his team, raid the rich for the poor.
The basic injustice at the core of Gangvaa is the way the landed classes take advantage of ordinary village folk. Early on in the film, a work crew finds a pot full of gold coins, and a suitably mustache-twirling zamindar (Amrish Puri) confiscates them to add to his already massive wealth.
