  7. Apr 3, 2019 · GameSpy wasn't just an authentication service, it was the 'middleware' server that service that handled communication between clients, also. No server = no online gaming. Saints Row 2, Star Wars Battlefront, Nintendo's WiFi, and DS/Wii online gaming and a whole lot of stuff died when the servers went down.

  9. Mar 1, 2020 · Gamespy was shut down in 2014, which left the various Crysis games without online multiplayer. I have created a ground-up Gamespy replacement server specifically for Crysis and Crysis Wars. I plan to add Crysis 2 support in the future, but it requires more Gamespy features than the older games do.
