  2. Oct 18, 2023 · As far as I understand, this was due in large part to being marketed to entry level boaters, unaware of how to maintain an outboard, in addition to their cross flow design, dooming many of these motors to fail. This is from my research, which mostly lump sums them all together. But forces have been made for some 30 years, and there are a lot of ...

  3. Dec 26, 2010 · Re: Are force motors good? The 1996 Force 90 is a big bore (3.375), long connecting rod engine with a mercury designed mid and lower unit. It has a Mercury ignition. It produces more power than previous non-mercury Force 90s. It should outrun the Rude 75 by at least a couple of MPH and you will have a good selection of props from which to choose.

  4. Aug 21, 2011 · Re: 125hp force 1990...so are they any good? any past experiences/advice is soo helpf The 4 cylinder Force engines seem to go through head gaskets, but if you're vigilant about maintaining the cooling system it might not happen. I have an 1989 85hp and it runs very well. I don't think Force is particularly bad compared to other 2-stroke engines.

  8. Feb 20, 2009 · The perfect example of this 1960 mentality is the Chrysler Force rectifier. It is an industrial standard square bridge that you can get from any electronics supplier for $5. Engines made by mercury come from a completely different mentality. They are engineered to maximize corporate profits.

  10. Feb 28, 2012 · Feb 29, 2012. #5. Re: Force outboard reliability. if you get a force by mercury then keep an eye on your reed valves. if you get a force by force, usmarine, or chrysler then it is a metal reed and you don't need to be concerned. the force sneezes a lot when cold and it cracks composite reeds.
