  2. His wife was known as Lena, and so they named their first daughter Lena, who was born June 22, 1873. A few years later, Edith Corse Evans was born September 21, 1875. Unfortunately, Cadwalader Evans passed away of kidney failure in January 1880. The loss of her father at a young age showed Edith how fragile life could be.

  5. Dec 1, 1996 · There is one photo of Edith Evans but it hasn't been made public yet--it will be in a book that Brian Meister and I are collaborating on. However, if you happen to be attending one of the Titanic exhibitions or gatherings sometime and I'm there, I'd be glad to show it to you.

  6. Dec 1, 1996 · Edith's father, Cadwallader Evans, a stock broker, died on January 20, 1880 at the age of 33. Their home was then at 100 West 11th Street. In 1939, Lena Cadwallader Evans attended a reunion of survivors of the Blizzard of 1888. She was awarded a silver cup for an essay she wrote about the experiences she and Edith had during the storm.

  9. Dec 1, 1996 · Edith was a very nice looking woman and you are right that the eyes seem to be the outstanding feature. Both Edith and her sister Lena had piercing blue eyes and although they called themselves blondes, the hair of both appears to be more of a brunette color.
