City Administration. The City of Colfax has operated under the Council-Manager form of government since incorporation in 1910. This system combines the strength of an elected City Council with a professional manager and staff.

The Council adopts ordinances and resolutions to direct the business of the City. The Council is also responsible for approving budgets for City operations, approving major projects, and providing guidance for actions which affect the quality of life in the City.

The Building Department oversees activities related to the construction, improvement, remodeling, and demolition of buildings and structures within the City of Colfax. Our role is to ensure all projects follow the proper safety guidelines and adhere to current building codes and regulations.
