Students and staff at Christ’s Hospital, are celebrating a fantastic set of (I)GCSE results. Our Year 11 students should be immensely proud of their achievements with almost two thirds of grades being awarded at level 7 or higher which is a 6% improvement over last year’s results.
Christ’s Hospital is the UK’s leading charitable school and the country’s most generous bursary charity. The school was established in 1552 and provides free or substantially reduced cost places to over 650 students each year – more than any other organisation in the UK.
Some ninety boys and girls enter Christ’s Hospital each September into the Second Form (Year 7), with a smaller entry into Little Erasmus (Year 9) and Deps (Year 12). There are eight boarding houses for girls and eight for boys, from the ages of 11 to 17 years.
Medical Centre. The Medical Centre is open 24 hours a day during term time. There is always a trained nurse on duty to care for students who are unwell and to offer help and advice to students, parents and staff should they have any medical concerns.
Chapel. Christ’s Hospital was founded in 1552 partly in response to a sermon preached by Nicholas Ridley, the Bishop of London, before King Edward VI in which he drew the young King’s attention to the plight of homeless children in the City of London.

Aug 12, 2021 · Pupils and staff are celebrating a tremendous set of (I)GCSE results after a turbulent couple of years in preparation. The tenacity and resilience in the face of adversity demonstrated by this talented cohort cannot be underestimated given the global situation.
At Christ’s Hospital we have two key principles at the heart of our teaching and learning – for students to love learning for life and for them to get the best qualifications they can. To this end we have created a unique Excellent Learning Framework to help guide them.
Bursaries at Christ’s Hospital. Christ’s Hospital is unlike any other independent school in the UK; our means-tested bursaries are granted to 650 of our 900 students, which means they receive a free or reduced-cost place, based on their family income and circumstances.
