Cora Nevins, a classy dame, is visiting the stokehole of an ocean liner when Captain Lash, the boss of the black gang, saves her from being badly burned after a steam valve is broken by a crazed stoker.
After rescuing wealthy ship's passenger Cora Nevins (Claire Windsor) from a nasty accident in the engine room, Captain Lash -- who despite his "title" is actually the head stoker -- agrees to help Cora smuggle some valuable jewels past customs.
