Aug 11, 2016 · If wanting to get rid of that blue line you obviously want to get rid of the vertical 'shadow' on the right side of the icon when 2 or more open programs on the Taskbar. Personally I like seeing the "prompt" that programs are open, also like Mac OS X that puts a white dot under icons on the Dock [taskbar] to indicate open programs. My Computers.

Oct 11, 2022 · Task Bar Open Programs Blue Line Gone. Never mind. Rebooted and below problem solved. Please refer to the below picture. In the task bar the blue line under the Firefox icon, Windows Explorer icon and Outlook icon that showed the program was open is gone and I can't figure out how to get it back.
