Juggernaut Set Installed - Some Initial Impressions. I had a chance to rehearse with the Juggernauts last weekend. Left me with mixed feelings. Guitar: Basswood RG Prestige with Gibraltar II fixed bridge. 6 string standard E tuning. Fender/Marshall flavored Master volume amp driven by various OD pedals.
My favorite thing about the juggernaut is the feel and the unique sound of alnico and ceramic combination. It's so reactive and responsive to the most mynute change in your fingers and picking technique. The dynamics are just as good as the mule which IMO is the best dynamic pick up BKP has to offer.
Jun 29, 2024 · PRS CE24 Pickup Choices - Blue Note and Polymath? I have a PRS CE24 from 2022. It has a maple top, mahogany back, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. It also has a coil tap. The stock pickups just aren't cutting it anymore for the tones I'm imagining, so I'm considering Bareknuckles. The current stock PRS set just feels muddy and unbalanced ...
It's bright but the smooth, thick, fluid creaminess means it's also completely captivating in the tone it produces. I'm using this pickup for anything from high gain solos to Blues and clean strumming. It never disappoints. The biggest difference between the Emerald neck and the Cold Sweat is in the clean tones.
Using a steel rule, adjust the humbucker’s height until its treble and bass sides both sit evenly 2.5mm beneath the fretted strings. (sjwebb90 comment - 2.5mm or thereabouts works for me) Single-coils. Strats should be adjusted to sit with the treble side slightly higher than the bass for a good tonal balance.
bare knuckle 63 veneer board pickup set. « on: May 20, 2016, 08:08:47 PM ». Really torn between getting Fender C69 set, Suhr V70 Set or the 63 veneer board set. I'd like to stick with Bare Knuckle as i've been happy with my other BKP's (got to trade in my piledrivers soon but thats due to not being into hot pups as much as low output now).
the PRS Custom 24 model is quite even voiced. even the CE versions with bolt-on maple necks aren't really BRIGHT. the 22 version comes with the dragon II pickup which is really bright and still sounds pretty good. his description of the string scratching noises reminded me of my experience with the aftermath.
Re: Bare Knuckles version of a DiMarzio Super Distortion. « Reply #5 on: May 14, 2013, 12:50:42 PM ». There really isn't a direct comparison, the closest sounding pickups are the Cold Sweat and Holy Diver. The Cold Sweat with its ceramic magnet has the similar crunchy mids, while the Holy Diver has the similar smooth thick low mids.
Looking at all the BKPs with AV magnets and DC resistance in the 12-15k range, of the ones I've tried I'd say the Crawler's probably closest to the 498T. The Rebel Yell is much brighter and leaner in the bass. Logged. BKPs I've Got: RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds. BKPs I Had: RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM.
In short, very, very different to the PG Blues. It's called the Old Guard, but that's just marketing to indicate the output range; the OG neck feels to me like a much more modern pickup than the other A2 BKPs, whether it's the PG Blues, Stormy Monday, or 10th Anniversary. It's got a quicker attack and more solid-feeling bass than the vintage ...
