Like you said OP, very reminiscent of NY 1997, Attack On Precinct 13, Full Metal Jacket, but we could add 1917, 300, Mad Max... It's shot like an epic war movie with high emotional stakes, and it's surfing on social issues more than addressing them, which honestly feels nice for a change. The opening shot is the craziest thing I've seen in a while.
This is true, Ares was definitely more associated on the whole with war, but Athena, being basically Zeus's favorite child (don't tell the other's that XD), got to fulfill more than one role for the Greek Olympus pantheon - hence why although she is definitely the goddess of wisdom, she is also honored as a goddess of war among many during various Greek mythology's (and also wears armor to support this claim ;) )

Even if Zeus didn't command the capture of deimos, Ares would still have a watch on kratos and deimos (both were destined to be warriros, they were born in sparta, the condition made them that, they were sparring in the scene) and would have used them to take down olympus.And Gaia would try to use kratos/deimos aswell.
Aug 22, 2014 · As delve202 said Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom and Ares of war. I would not mind as much if if they would say idk after Athena goddess of war came Apollo god of love. Either way this is something i would think would benefit the game and a very small thing that "bugs me" either way even if it changes or not this still remains a very good time spender for me:D.
Dec 20, 2023 · Athena being physically stronger than Ares while also being smarter kind of makes his role as the god of war pointless. It makes sense for him to be stronger as his primary title is the god of war, while Athena is the goddess of wisdom first and foremost, with defensive warfare being just one of her secondary domains.
