A Korean Odyssey [1] (Korean: 화유기; RR: Hwayugi) is a South Korean fantasy television series starring Lee Seung-gi, Cha Seung-won, Oh Yeon-seo, Lee Hong-gi, and Jang Gwang. Written by the Hong sisters, the drama is a modern spin-off of the Chinese classic 16th-century novel Journey to the West.
A Korean Odyssey: With Lee Seung-gi, Cha Seung-won, Oh Yeon-Seo, Lee Hong-ki. In 2017, Son Oh Gong and Ma Wang are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evils exists everywhere.
Hwayugi follows the story of Jin Seon Mi (Oh Yeon Seo), who was born with the ability to see spirits. One day, she is asked by a strange man Woo Ma Wang (Cha Seung Won) to retrieve a fan from a haunted house. She is blocked by Son Oh Gong (Lee Seung Gi) who asks her to blow out five candles to free him in exchange for protection.
