Feb 21, 2011 · Picture. Paramount release 48 HRS in its original 1.85:1 aspect and via AVC. For a catalogue title, I have definitely seen much better than this. The age of the film is worn proudly upon its speckled image, flecks and pops not obtrusive but a sheer testament to a complete absence of any sort of restoration having taken place.

The work print version was 145 mins, Walter Hill edited this down to 120 mins, then a week before the release, Paramount took a hacksaw to the film and edited it further to 95 mins.

Aug 10, 2020 · David Lean’s undisputed king of the epics, Lawrence of Arabia, may be mostly fantasy in terms of its titular character and his actions, but the film is completely magnificent – running at 3 hours 48 minutes the length is a positive boon to the narrative; allowing scenes to unfold naturally, giving a true sense of scale to the picture. The whole is epic in every sense of the word; locations, sets, acting talent, design and story – we are unlikely to ever see its like again.
