Krishan Kumar, also known as Krishan Kumar Dua, was born in Daryaganj, Shahjahanabad. His family has its roots in the Jhang province of West Punjab from where his parents migrated to Delhi as refugees after the anti-Hindu riots during the partition of India in 1947.
Krishan Kumar grew up in a middle-class family in Delhi. Krishan began his career as an actor with the 1993 Hindi-language romantic thriller film Aaja Meri Jaan. He played the role of Chand Kapoor in the film.
