Amitava Roy (born 1 March 1953 [citation needed]) is the retired judge of the Supreme Court of India and former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court and Rajasthan High Court. He is also a puisne judge of the Gauhati High Court.
Justice Amitava Roy was born on 1.3.1953 at Kolkata, West Bengal. He belongs to a family of lawyers. His father Late Anadi Bhushan Roy was a practicing Senior Advocate of repute at Dibrugarh in the State of Assam. His Father-in-Law, Late Salil Kumar Dutta had been a Judge of the Calcutta High Court.
