Sep 1, 2015 · IT WORKED. The reason you can't delete the Macupdate Desktop it stays open and can't be closed. The solution is easy Force Quite Applications in Mac acts like Task Manager in Windows.In Windows you use Ctr, Alt, and Delete keys, here you use the three keys of Command key, Option key, and Esc key together and then kill the job by Relaunch button at the bottom of the page.

Open Notifications preferences, locate a listing for MacUpdate, select it, and uncheck all the boxes on the right.
To fully explain how these popups work on the Mac (and Windows): 1) You hit a bad web site and the scary sounding popup appears. 2) You click OK or whatever button is there to try and dismiss it. The popup seems to be unresponsive, or comes back after a very brief time off the screen.

The latter is specifically to do with Intego's programs such as Internet Security Barrier or whatever they are calling it now. If you don't have Intego programs you don't need it.
