Jan 2, 2021 · I am not able to edit a pdf using Word. I made sure I had latest version of Word (Microsoft office) I am able to convert a pdf into a Word file, but can't edit the file at all. I get "cross hair" cursor when hovered over document. Not able to type into the document or do anything else with it. Any suggestions? Thanks! rmb

Aug 3, 2020 · If that is correct, note that Word 2010 can't edit PDFs—only create them. Recent versions of Word can open PDF files, but Word can't necessarily edit the file; it depends on how the file was first created. OCR (optical character recognition) will often be required, especially for scanned PDF files.
Aug 19, 2017 · First of all, using "Open With" to open a PDF in WORD is a crap shoot, as you have found. While Word 2013/2016 now can "open" a PDF file, what they do with it IS NOT OCR (Optical Character Recognition). It is a "cheat" that depends on special types of PDF files, which apparently yours is not. I reiterate, ONENOTE does real OCR.

Feedback and suggestions go to the Developer team. Click on the three dots menu button. Go to Help and feedback. Click on Send feedback. Fill out the form. Once completed, click on Send. Eric
Apr 25, 2022 · In other words, if I make an edit in Chinese text it doesn't directly display in Edge. But the edit is indeed there since I can open the PDF file in another editor like Foxit PDF Editor online and can see the Chinese text I had entered previously in Edge (but where Edge was not showing or displaying the font chars for some strange reason).
