Recently there have been advancements in getting Xenia Canary to work through Proton, so that you don't need to use Windows.

Dec 23, 2022 · Specs: Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.40 GHz. Installed RAM: 16.0 GB. GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060 (MSI) Game and emulator are on an SSD and the emulator is Xenia Canary with almost no changes besides the specified ones above. Game runs smoothly.
Aug 27, 2020 · Or run the emulator through steam. Or you can change the config file located at documents/xenia and change hid from any to sdl. That should get your ds4 controller working. for anyone coming across this comment, i simply used ds4windows which allows you to emulate an xbox360 controller.

To avoid confusion, this was not done by the Xenia team. This was done on Xenia Canary, a popular community fork of Xenia. Here's the announcement about the issue on their Discord: There was a recent update made by the Xenia Canary team to Xenia Canary in which an anti-piracy pop-up was added alongside it a beep sound effect.
Jan 28, 2023 · You are supposed to unzip the game inside the zip. Extract it somewhere then open Xenia and Click on file, then open. Select the ISO and tell it where you extract it somewhere. And it will run. 1.

Which is the go-to? For awhile I believe the Xenia team in general was suggesting to use the canary build. This was some time ago and I’m unsure if it was specific to a particular situation. Normally I do use nightles or development builds on all my emulators, but with Xenia, Xenia canary is something different. It’s classified as a fork.
