Depending on your app-server, you can download source for implementation classes like HttpRequest (for Tomcat, instructions are here). However, why do you feel there would be value stepping into those classes?
Dec 30, 2009 · Unfortunately, adding the javaee-(web)-api as a dependency doesn't give you the Javadoc or the Source to the Servlet Api to browse them from within the IDE. This is also the case for all other dependencies (JPA, EJB, ...) If you need the Servlet API sources/javadoc, you can add the following to your pom.xml (works at least for JBoss&Glassfish):

That depends. If said file is publicly available via your HTTP server or servlet container you can simply redirect to via response.sendRedirect().
Jun 23, 2014 · If this dependency cannot be resolved than my guess is I could just get the JAR file for javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest and add to the Project's Build Path as an external JAR. Where can I find the JAR for javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest. p.s. I am new to JAVA so I don't know much about HttpServletRequest also I am using Java 1.6 JRE.

Mar 1, 2016 · The source code is not necessarily specific to the Servlet API, but to the Servlet Implementation itself. In your particular case, Tomcat is the Servlet Implementation. So, you need to head to its homepage to find download links to the source code. Usually it's at the same place as where you downloaded the binaries.
Does anyone know because all the places I've tried seem to timeout!
