1940–1982. Prakash Kaur or Parkash Kaur ( Punjabi: ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕੌਰ ; Hindi: प्रकाश कौर ; 19 September 1919 – 2 November 1982) was a Punjabi singer. She mostly sang Punjabi folk songs. She is most famous for making Punjabi folk music popular and for trying new things with it.
Parkash Kaur studied in the Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Ferozepur then joined Medical College, Amritsar for M.B.B.S. She was influenced by the ideology of Sardar Bhagat Singh while she was in school. She and her brother Harbhajan Singh joined the freedom struggle.
Despite being the former wife of one of India's living legends Dharmendra, Prakash Kaur was a plain-looking woman with a heart full of love and devotion for her husband, her two sons, and two daughters.
