Hope that helps other people. It is definitely possible to custom install office 2019--it just takes some work.

Oct 15, 2020 · Hello, I have read the two excellent and detailed articles "Office Customization Tool – Office Deployment Made Easy" (Jan 2019) and "Custom install or change Microsoft Office with Office Deployment Tool" (this thread - but the comments area appears to be inactive or outdated) and I would like to utilize both the ODT and OCT for the latest/current "Microsoft 365 PERSONAL" subscription product if possible.
Nov 13, 2015 · After install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update now all apps in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus except Microsoft Word configure each time they start. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.
