May 16, 2023 · Microsoft Remote Desktop Client crashes when connecting. Using "newer" versions of the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client (client versions newer than 1.2.29) the msrdc.exe app crashed upon starting the connection to the resource. Version 1.2.29XXX connects just fine but anything newer and it starts having issues.

For further testing, I used msrdc.exe with a custom RDP file to connect directly to the Win10 clients to rule out the WVD gateway /session host infrastructure encapsulation and redirection. I also validated against Windows 1909 and 1903 builds for the receiving host. All test cases exhibit the same symptoms. (1.2.675.0 works fine with smartcard.

Jul 25, 2023 · We see graphic issues with frames around the application off and on when running as RemoteApp in AVD. Issue is reproducible with the latest client versions and is depending if the window is in focus or not.
