The problem is most games use too low shtutter speed, or / and don't scale it with framerate. To get 180 degree shutter (which gives what is considered a natural amount of motion blur for movies and TV shows) the shutter speed should always be 2x highier than the frame rate.

The indiscriminate type of motion blur is more hit and miss for me. It also depends on the genre, I guess. In a shooter, I like to keep visual noise to a minimum most of the time.

Dec 25, 2020 · Per-object motion blur makes animations look smooth, film grain can give textures and such a more gritty look and can also be used to reduce banding, chromatic aberration isn't something I notice if subtle. All of these thing can be great or terrible depending on implementation really, so I think the best thing to do is judge on a per-game basis.
