Deactivate all settings concerning unlocking in options for DEV then disconnect the Xiaomi account on the phone then delete the device from your Xiaomi account (PC) then create a new account by defining USA as the country (PC), restart the phone and activate your new account and start the procedure again.

Mi unlock 7.6.727.43 runs all the way to the Unlocking, but stop @ 99%, with the follow message, "Could'nt unlock, Please add your account in Settings" Which I have added before already. Below links possible errors as to why it will not unlock, which I have checked.
Dec 3, 2023 · The Mi Unlock tool is really easy to use. The only finicky part was getting the verification code (didn't work the first night). I think it was because I needed to have W7 'see' the tablet first, which going through device manager did that, and then it installed the drivers itself, after that plain sailing.
