The Meiyazhagan movie starts in 1996, when Arul Mozhi and his family are forced to sell their family house and relocate to Madras. This sudden change effects his mind, but several years later, when he crosses 39 and enters the 40's, he gets an opportunity to go to his village, Needamangalam, to attend his favorite cousin's sister's wedding.
