May 7, 2020 · Report abuse. In reply to Stephen and JaneGow's post on May 7, 2020. Because Ctrl+spacebar removed the grey "background", it must have been shading applied to the text. It would have been possible to remove that shading without affecting other font formatting. To do that, select the shaded text and click the down arrow on the Shading button.

Select the text in question and apply "None." 2) Shading, accessible from the main menu bar's Format > Borders and Shading, which can be applied to selected text or to the whole paragraph. Cancel it by selecting "No Fill."

Right click your desktop and select Personalize and then go to Colors and change the appearance to Custom and change the Choose your default Windows mode to Light and Choose your default app mode to Dark. Note that this one will change all of the UWP apps including Explorer but not the UI.
