Prism Launcher is the best. If your not using mods it’s perfectly fine to handle multiple vanilla installs. Even with a bunch of modded installs (in separate directories) I made it work just fine but a custom launcher (prism/pollymc or atlauncher) is extremely convenient. This.

Apr 4, 2022 · The original launcher is basically nostalgia to people that played it back in the day. That original legacy launcher no longer works. Mojang has shutted it down on March 10th, 2022. Along with it wouldn't work in general migrating ur mojang account to Microsoft. The new launcher is basically dumb to me, I prefer old school but it no longer works.

The new launcher doesn't appear to add any value over the old launcher, but is slower, more cumbersome to use with multiple accounts, and has lost important features such as --workDir arguments. This doesn't mention that it's currently badly bugged and not working for many people. So, for now, I prefer the old launcher.
