Prof. Suvarn Kulkarni is elected as Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences India, 2024. Dr. Dasari Venkatakrishnarao joins Department of Chemistry IIT Bombay as an Assistant Professor. Prof. Arnab Dutta awarded the Research Excellence Award for the year 2024.
Currently, the Department has 39 faculty members devoted to graduate and post-graduate teaching and world-class research in Chemistry. In addition, we have equally devoted 18 non-teaching staff taking care of administrative and other duties.

Associate Professor, IIT Bombay (2014 -2018) Professor, IIT Bombay (2018-) Research Interest: The research focus of our group is on structural biochemistry. We employ a combination of X-ray crystallographic and biochemical techniques to develop insights into various cellular pathways.
In our department, teaching and research are synergistic to each other. We attract best students of our country for our postgraduate as well as undergraduate courses. Our faculty members also engage extensively in outreach activities that benefit the entire country.

Physical chemists of our department are actively involved in investigating variety of problems related to understanding intermolecular forces responsible for modulating the properties of materials, dynamics of molecules in the gaseous and condensed phase, reaction kinetics, electrochemical behaviour of materials, and thermodynamics.
