  1. Up to a certain price point, IEM is better. IMO, at $250 AUD, with the appearance of HD560S and HE400SE, the price / value argument disappears. In other words, IEM reaches “decent” point faster (cheaper) but plateaus hard after that. Headphone reaches that point later.

  2. IEM's (as a general rule) always have more micro detail too. A good $100-$300 IEM can sound as good as much more expensive headphones. High end IEM's are one of the best (if not the very best) audio experiences that you can have without disturbing the peace. People who shun them are missing out a lot.

  3. Dec 27, 2020 · The Ranking List has a few categories: Model name - self explanatory. Price - MSRP. Total Grade - Weight 20% Tonality 20% Technicality and 60% AntGrade. Value - A value score based on price and rank (range is negative a lot to +10) (higher better) Tonality - semi-subjective/objective score based on the overall sound signature FYI - I posted ...

  4. Jan 3, 2023 · The soundstage on headphones will be more open and have more depth. Iems are alot lighter compared to headphones and have better sound isolation. I would say iems are more accurate than most headphones, if you have a deep fit and seal especially. If your a detail oriented person then iems usually tend to be more suited.

  5. Apr 11, 2023 · I recommend checking out Fresh Reviews channel on YouTube. He reviews headphones (mostly IEM's) with competitive gaming in mind. Quality headphones don't directly equate to great gaming headphones. For competitive gaming, having a peaky treble to soundwhore is often beneficial even if it isn't for other listening.

  6. Sep 22, 2017 · sverek. •• Edited. For outside and sport get IEMs they are secured in your ears and wont fall off when moving. For home usage, over ears are better and you should consider getting open or closed headphones. Usually a good combo to start with open headphones with neutral sound for home usages and IEMs for outside.

  7. Dec 26, 2021 · TheMagicalTimonini. •. Depends on the specific headphones or IEMs, headphones tend to have a bigger soundstage especially open back headphones, but that doesn't necessarily make it better for gaming. IEMs are really nice for isolation and easy to carry and for some they are better in comfort for long periods of time.

  8. Nov 7, 2021 · To upgrade from the IER-M9, the 64 Audio U12t, Sony IER-Z1R, and Unique Melody MEST MK2 appear to be the best options. Disclaimers. Audio preferences are subjective so a meta-analysis has inherent flaws. It's possible that the IEMs that rank highly in this list do so in part or whole by being 'inoffensive' rather than 'good'.

  9. Jul 4, 2022 · IEM is much better than Over Ear headphones for the same price. It is because Over Ear design has to deal with the “shape” of your ear, which is causing bad frequency response at the 2K to 10K range. In contrast, the IEM is placed inside your ear canal, so the sound is directly going into your ear membrane.

  10. Mar 1, 2022 · Ultimately hissing is the "fault" of the source more than the IEM, a highly sensitive IEM is just reproducing it. A high sensitivity IEM will make this more evident than a low sensitivity one, but it's probably down to your PC. What matters is more the sensitivity than the impedance, the QKZ VK4 are highly sensitive so yes there is a high risk ...
