This is the first of its kind set up by ICAR, which encompasses all the disciplines of agriculture, horticulture, animal sciences, agricultural engineering, agroforestry, fishery and social sciences to cater to the research needs of the tribal areas of NEH Region including Sikkim.
1.To develop and improve sustainable farming systems for different agro-climatic and socio-economic conditions of NEH region, including organic agriculture. 2.To improve crops, horticulture, livestock and fishery and to impart training for development of local competence for efficient management of resources.
The Division is collaborating with the natural resource management, horticulture and agricultural engineering scientists of six regional centers of the institute located in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura who are coordinating with the respective state governments.
ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre is situated adjacent to NH-39 along the Dimapur - Kohima route, which is about 25km far from Dimapur having a latitude of 25o45'24"N, longtitude of 93o50'26"E, and altitude of 295m AMSL.
During the year 2019, NEH component of ICAR-IIAB was implemented in five districts of Manipur viz., Imphal West, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, and Chandel. The program was implemented in collaboration with ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre.
