Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level exam that assesses candidates for comprehensive understanding in various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and Humanities. GATE 2024 is being organised by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
GATE 2024 will be conducted only in centres within India. It will not be conducted in centres outside India. Foreign nationals and Indian citizens residing abroad may appear for GATE 2024 by paying the full application fee, but they must choose examination cities within India.
Candidates who are currently studying in the 3 rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2024.
Qualifying in GATE does not guarantee admission, scholarship, or a job. Admission to any institute is fully dependent on the admitting institute’s criteria for educational qualification. GATE qualification does not assure a public sector undertaking (PSU) job.

Each GATE 2024 paper is for a total of 100 marks, General Aptitude (GA) is common for all papers (15 marks), and the rest of the paper covers the respective test paper syllabus (85 marks). Click here for detailed pattern of the question papers.

GATE 2024 TWO-PAPER COMBINATIONS. The following table gives the codes of test papers allowed as the second paper for the candidate’s choice of the first paper. These combinations were announced in the regular and extended periods of application. These combinations will also be available during 11-17 November, 2023.
