Apr 13, 2019 · Khan Academy: Khan is good for preteaching or review, as it contains teaching videos, problem explanations, and is pretty easy to navigate to specific topics. Like IXL, It’s 100% online. It’s broad, but not very deep. I’d use it if your kid was having trouble on a particular concept.

Mar 6, 2021 · Beast Academy is a graphic novel that teaches math concepts and work books. AoPS uses those materials but has a weekly class that is 1 hour 45 minutes long and there is homework that kids complete online. They use the Beast Academy books for practice problems during class and if they need more practice then what the homework provides.
Jun 30, 2021 · Yes! DD loved it, but had finished the program last year as a rising 5th grader. The excellent secondary level Art of Problem Solving continues where BA leaves off, but it’s more serious and without the fun comic book aspects. Oh, this is helpful! My daughter just completed fourth grade AAP in public school.

Feb 9, 2020 · The AoPS classes pretty closely follow the Beast Academy textbooks for 2nd-5th grade, and then the AoPS pre-Algebra and beyond for the other classes. The kids do 1 hr 45 minute classes with teacher led instruction, problems, reinforcing activites, and so on, and then they get about an hour of homework each week.

Jul 13, 2021 · Now I have a DD6, who is about to start 1st grade. Looks like AOPS doesn't start till later grades so if I want extra math for her, it would have to be RSM. Just looking to see if the two programs are meaningfully different, and if there are any efficiencies I'm missing. AoPS has "Beast Academy" for the earlier grades.
Oct 4, 2024 · We did placement test and started a chapter early. So like tested for 2C, but started in 2B. you can unlock and lock things in the parental controls, but we have everything locked so he couldn't jump around.

IXL was great with the questions but if kids got something wrong they would have to work their way up again to the same level question (reminds me of those Kumon booklets that you just keeping writing until you get it all correct).
