With enrollment increasing, the modern era of Avila began in 1963 when construction began on a much larger new campus in South Kansas City. With the new location came a new name, Avila College. In 1965, Avila welcomed its first on-campus residents with the completion of Carondelet Hall.
Located in a suburban, residential neighborhood in south Kansas City, Missouri, the Avila campus sits on 50 tree-lined acres. The surrounding metropolitan area, commonly referred to as a whole as “Kansas City” or KC, encompasses 14 counties and straddles the Kansas and Missouri state line.
