Mar 31, 2024 · When Avicii was found dead in 2018, the electronic dance music (EDM) community was in shock. The Swedish DJ and producer had taken the genre by storm with just two albums, and was only 28 when he died. Tragically, the cause of Avicii’s death was soon reported to be suicide.
No cause of death was immediately given. On 21 April, the Omani authorities stated that there was "no criminal suspicion" or evidence of foul play in Bergling's death. A day before Bergling's death, a friend expressed concern about his mental state to his father Klas.

Avicii had in the past suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking. After having his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, he cancelled a series of shows in attempt to recover.
