Skilled artisans practicing myriad craft forms – block carving and printing amongst them – were invited to settle here and were ensured a secure livelihood. Founded by John and Faith Singh in 1970, ANOKHI began when Jaipur’s block printing industry was at a very low ebb.
By focusing on a dynamic relationship between contemporary design, traditional techniques and skilled workmanship, ANOKHI creates unique and original clothing pieces, textile furnishings, accessories and sleepwear to reflect the rich heritage of India’s craft community.
For decades, ANOKHI has drawn inspiration from Rajasthan’s rich craft heritage and collaborates with local artisans across a spectrum of traditional techniques. An interdependence of different hand skills is almost always needed to create an original ANOKHI piece.
There are 27 ANOKHI shops located in towns and cities throughout India. Most of our shops carry the full ANOKHI range of items. A wider assortment of our hand-crafted womenswear, menswear and childrenswear – as well as sleepwear, soft furnishings and accessories – is available in the larger shops.
ANOKHI collections can be found in our own shops across India and through independent stores and websites in the UK, Europe, the USA, Mauritius and Japan. We do not sell ANOKHI on our own website.

The ANOKHI archive houses over 50 years of printing blocks, fabric swatches, paper patterns and toiles. Documentation also includes several decades of original artworks, soft furnishing samples, accessories, decorations, and photographs.
