You require a third party program only if you need advanced features apart from zipping and unzipping Microsoft Store also provides a couple of zip utilities which are free.

Probably you have associated the program 7zg.exe for zip files. But you need to associate 7zFM.exe instead. Run 7-zip / menu / Tools / Options / System. Oct 25, 2023 · Hello Stephanie, this is Emily. When the other third party ones, such as 7Zip, or WinRar is installed, it can take away the Windows' native "Extract All" option. Since you did mention 7Zip didn't work, I just want to make sure that's not the case here. If it is, uninstall it, restart the computer and see if the option will come back.
Aug 23, 2015 · Upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 with 7-Zip installed. Now when trying to use built in extract function in file explorer the extract area is "grey out" and disabled. Uninstalled 7-zip, no change.
