  1. Feb 16, 2022 · We Need to Talk About Kevin is a 2011 drama about a teenager who is antisocial and who ends up a school shooter. I've seen a lot of arguments about why he killed everyone except his mother, such as "he wanted to punish her the most" or "he loved her." I thought of one I haven't seen before, and I think it's a good explanation.

  2. Dec 2, 2021 · It's no secret that We Need to Talk about Kevin is intended to challenge your assumptions about the people we think of as "evil." The film primarily shows you the pathos of evil by painting a portrait of a deeply and violently disturbed young man from his mother's point of view, and you watch how this relationship built and how that pathos developed.

  3. Aug 14, 2021 · The way Kevin turned out, whether he was "inherently evil" or whether it was his parents' fault - this theme is quite clear throughout the book. There are many similarities between Kevin's and Eva's character, and they seem to reach perfect understanding - i.e no pretense,, when Kevin is at his "evilest" .

  4. Jul 24, 2012 · He (Kevin) doesn't develop any kind of attachment to anyone and the only kind of attachment that is shown is the one to his bow. Because of this he feels the need to take revenge on the one person that brought him into this world, which is why instead of killing her, he tortures his own mother by killing the two people that mattered most to her; the man she loved and the child she had always wanted.

  5. We get a lot of in-depth inner monologue from the mother, and very little of it contains any genuine parental devotion or prioritizing of Kevin. She is cold and absent. Can this style of nurturing cause, or encourage the development of a similar psychopathy in the child she is raising (coldly, at arm's length)?

  6. Eva of course is not faultless, but as the Title says "we need to talk about kevin". The lack of communication between Eva, Kevin, the dad and therapists ultimately culminated into how Kevin turned out, not to mention, quite literally genetics does play big part, Kevin parallels Eva which is shown throughout the movie .

  7. Aug 4, 2021 · [SPOILER] We Need to Talk About Kevin- Ending I enjoyed the movie, pretty disturbing. Idk why, but the most disturbing part for me was when he made the jelly sandwich, true sociopath move.

  8. May 9, 2024 · It has so much more disturbing details and is extremely comprehensive of Kevin's problematic behavior from birth to the incident. The movie leaves out a lot - I was actually surprised that they left out so much. Fun fact: My dog's middle name was Kevin because of the book/movie.

  9. Dec 4, 2020 · We need to talk about Kevin because I think I may have possibly cracked the ambiguous, nebulous reason why Kevin committed the atrocity at his school. The answer may be right in the title. See, I've been borderline obsessed with this book. I've read it over and over multiple times cover to cover.

  10. Oct 26, 2020 · I just watched We Need to Talk About Kevin for the first time yesterday, so I'm a little late to the discussion. I've been waiting to watch it for a while, and it's definitely an instant favorite for me. As far as diagnosis, I don't know that anyone has spoken to that yet. He's almost certainly a Psychopath, with an Antisocial Personality Disorder.
