May 1, 2024 · Applications and Admissions. Domestic students applying to UTokyo take the common national university entrance examination, following which successful students can choose to take the University of Tokyo’s entrance examination. Undergraduate and graduate admissions are accepted for start in April and in October.
At present, the University of Tokyo has 10 Faculties, 15 Graduate Schools, 11 affiliated Institutes, four University Joint Education and Research Institutes, four Institutes for Advanced Study, four Interdisciplinary Research Institutes, three National Joint-Use Institutes and over 40 Collaborative Research Organizations.
The University of Tokyo has a total of 10 Faculties. A key feature of the undergraduate education at the University of Tokyo is that the first two years (referred to as the Junior Division) are devoted to the acquisition of fundamental skills necessary for further study.
Aiming for the creation of a global campus that attracts talented students around the world, the College of Arts and Sciences has offered undergraduate degree programs taught entirely in English on the Komaba Campus since October 2012.
