Oct 11, 2024 · You can tell Matas is going to be a problem around the league once his shot consistently starts to drop. I think early on in the year he may look more like the preseason. One game amazing, another game he might go 1-10. But its his moxy that is what stars are made of. I don't think Matas will win ROTY unless something major happens.

Coming into this preseason game though, a lot of this stuff looked a lot better, and what I think there are a few differences:

Oct 11, 2024 · Same thing in 1979-80 - Seattle was 1st in the league in defense (99.9 pts/100poss allowed) and D.J was the only Sonic named to the all-defensive team. Not only that but his 2 seasons in Phoenix (1980-81 and 1981-82) the Suns were the best team in the league defensively (99.8 pts/100poss allowed) and Johnson was the only Suns player named to the all-defensive team either season (all-defensive 1st team both years).
Oct 15, 2024 · He is a confident player no doubt, and he isn't afraid to shoot even when they aren't dropping and I consider that a good thing. But so far in his professional career (including G-league), he just hasn't proven to be a consistent shooter. If he can end his rookie season around 33% shooting from distance, I would be pleasantly surprised.

Oct 21, 2024 · The league is too talented and the player pool is too deep. These days, the best players thrive in novel ways and offer something unique that can’t be replicated. Nobody sees the game like Nikola Jokic or moves like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander; Jalen Brunson isn’t necessarily more skilled than, say, Cam Thomas, but he’s infinitely more effective because he deploys that skill in more interesting ways.
