Installing Stremio on Linux was not the problem that I had. It installs and works flawlessly for the purposes of streaming. However, when I tried to install an addon (Torrentio) through my browser, it didn't open Stremio and prompt me to install an addon. I did not have this issue with installing addons on Windows/Mac/Android.

Mar 29, 2022 · Download the app on your PC, configure on Torrentio website and then keep installing until it only shows Addon Installed! without the push failure message on top of it. Click on the taskbar arrow and quit Stremio.

I found these hitting the "Share" button on another device that had stremio and these addons installed on it. Was quite easy to find. Have fun.
