You dont’t have to combine ~ key with any key combination like CTRL ALT SHIFT. Nothing Just Press the ~ key and you will able to see a Indian Rupee Symbol into OpenOffice Writer. Make sure you selected the right keyboard layout. Go to System Settings, click on Keyboard Layout. On the Layout tab you should see a + button. Select the most appropriate keyboard layout as shown bellow. I am not using a Macbook, but the first layout worked as you described to type @.
If anyone still having a problem after trying all these please follow the following things. first go to settings, then Region and Language in that go to input source add English US keyboard layout by pressing + symbol and remove other keyboard layout by pressing - symbol. thank you. Add a keyboard layout first (using the + icon), and if that works, you could delete the layout that was there first. Nov 2, 2018 · To enter the @ sign, which would be Unicode U+40 (hexadecimal!), press and hold Ctrl + Shift and then press U, 4, 0. This works the same for all Unicode chars, like U+2744 for a snowflake. You may have to release <shift> after typing the U. You can even release <CTRL> as well, <space> signals the end of your code number.
