The Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act of 1936 governs matrimonial unions between Parsis. Prior to the enactment of this legislation, the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act of 1865 was in existence. The 1936 Act was further amended in 1988.

THE PARSI MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE ACT, 1936 (ACT 3 OF 1936) (23rd April, 1936) Definitions : - In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,- (5) "husband" means a Parsi husband: (6) "marriage" means a marriage between Parsi whether contracted before or after the commencement of this Act;
