Jan 29, 2022 · I wanted to like Oceans more than I did. Evolution feels unique for (1) simultaneous play making the game scale super well and (2) the brutally interactive predator mechanics. By changing how populations die and changing to turn based gameplay, the game slows down and meaningful interaction becomes much less prevalent.
Dec 11, 2020 · Oceans is very similar thematically to Evolution and shares a lot of similar mechanics. Strategically however, the games are actually quite different. Summarily Oceans is a much less "mean" game, and is less about fighting other players than it is building a better engine than them. Less focus on attacking other players.

Yes, they explode, yes its after you pull the pin, but they may not function as advertised because they were of a lower standard. Some may take 3 seconds to go off while others take 8. It's a gamble, but they still do the right thing.
