Nithilan Saminathan was born on 2 June 1982 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. He is a director and writer, known for Maharaja (2024), Kurangu Bommai (2017) and Cooku with Comali (2019).
Kurangu Bommai (transl. Monkey Doll) is a 2017 Indian Tamil -language crime thriller film, written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan in his directoral debut. The film stars Vidharth, Delna Davis, and Bharathiraja, while Elango Kumaravel and P. L. Thenappan play supporting roles.
Maharaja was released worldwide on 14 June 2024 in theatres to critical acclaim from critics, who praised Sethupathi's performance, Philomin's editing and Swaminathan's writing and direction and became a huge success at the box office.
