From now on, simply double-click karel.cmd in the Downloads folder to start Karel. Feel free to move karel.jar and karel.cmd to the Desktop or any other folder you prefer.
Karel the Robot is a programming language created for educational purposes by Dr. R. E. Pattis from Stanford University (California, USA), who also wrote the book Karel the Robot: A Gentle Introduction to the Art of Programming in 1981.
‘Karel’ is a PILA application that measures students’ computational problem solving skills. The application asks students to build programs in a block-based visual programming interface in order to instruct a robot in the form of a turtle (“Karel”) to perform certain actions.
The range slider to the right controls the program speed by setting the time (in milliseconds) between robot actions. The default value is 1000 milliseconds(1 second)
Create other functions that make Karel even more powerful. Karel already knows how to turn, move forward, put, and gather beepers. However, we can imagine that in order to perform in its world, there are certainly some activities that it must frequently repeat.
