It is the most sacred shrine in India. A vibrant and living temple, it occupies a special place in the religious and cultural history of the State of Odisha. Over the centuries, it has attracted many kings, conquerors, religious teachers, devotees and pilgrims.
Rajaraja-I was related to the emperor Chodaganga Deva of Odisha, who has built the present temple of Lord Jagannatha. In the Nagpur inscription of Lakshmideva, issued in 1104 AD also, there is an invocation to Purushottama.
(Corpus fund donation scheme is promoted by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Puri and approved by Government of Orissa. In the CORPUS FUND DONATION SCHEME, donor has to donate minimum 1 Lakh rupees and for Patron donor Rs 10 lakh rupees.
Five Information centres of Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration are located at Temple’s Main Gate (Lion’s Gate), Puri Railway Station main platform, Shree Gundicha Temple (Main Gate), Sea Beach and at Bhubaneswar Jayadev Bhaban(Main Gate).
