SCHOLARSHIP for HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE) component of the INSPIRE aims to encourage meritorious students to study basic and natural sciences at undergraduate level through attractive scholarship and mentorship opportunities. SHE offers 12,000 scholarships every year to meritorious students in the age group 17-22 years.
The scheme offers 10,000 Scholarship every year at Rs 0.80 lakh per year for the talented youth in the age group 17-22 years, for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in natural sciences. The main feature of the scheme is the mentorship support provided to every scholar.

DST is successfully implementing 'Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scheme since 2010. The scheme covers students in the age group of 10-32 years and has five components (INSPIRE Awards MANAK, INSPIRE Internship, INSPIRE Scholarship, INSPIRE Fellowship and INSPIRE Faculty).
INSPIRE-SHE aims to enhance the attachment of talented youth (age group 17-22 yrs) to undertake higher education in science intensive programmes by providing scholarships and mentorship. The scheme offers 10000 Scholarship every year.
INSPIRE Programme is focused on attracting students to pursue a regular doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc. after either Masters' degree in Science/ Applied Science/ Engineering or Bachelors’/ Masters’ degree in Medicine.
