Welcome to the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering IThe Department of Environmental Science and Engineering was created out of existing Centre of Mining Environment (established in 1987) at Institute in June 2007 with the commencement of a regular B.Tech. Degree in Environmental Engineering under IIT-JEE (first of its kind offered by any national institute).
IIT (ISM) is fully residential technical institute having all modern amenities located in the mineral rich belt of India in the prime cooking coal city of Dhanbad, Jharkhand. It was established as Indian School of Mines (ISM) in 1926 in line with the Royal School of Mines, London.
