Some specific plot points to consider: Gon's friends Killua and Alluka have already departed Gon from the previous episode, 147. This happens in chapter 338. Gon climbs up the World Tree and meets Ging. This happens in chapter 338.
In Japan, HxH 2009 was the "Saturday Golden Time Anime"; then from episode 62 onward, it became OVA. HxH 2011 was the "Sunday Morning Anime"; then from episode 99 onward, it became "Midnight Anime". Both began broadcasting in time slots meant for "Children's Anime" in Japan, and OVA and "Midnight Anime" were the "Adults' Anime".

Plenty of shows also use different symbols in their title for example Steins;Gate, Choukadou Girl ⅙, .hack//Sign, Tokyo Ghoul √A, Saiki Kusuo no Ψ Nan.

Dec 20, 2014 · The anime will not progress with the mangaka's storyline nor will it be filled with fillers because Togashi would not allow it (and frankly, it would be a waste). It is also rumored that Togashi could just ask an assistant/s to draw Hunter X Hunter with his storyline but chooses not to for various reasons.

Jan 11, 2017 · In the anime and manga as well, there are kanji and HxH alphabets written down together. It has been used several times throughout the anime (assumed in the manga too). It makes sense that kanji appears in the series because the alphabets are substitutions for Japanese kana, the collective term for hiragana and katakana, which is a part of the Japanese writing system ( Source ).
Fast-forward to the Hunter Exam, and Killua meets Gon, quickly discovering that he wants a friendly relationship with him (attempting to sever the ties to his former life as an assassin). In this case, you have to understand that Killua doesn't know how to behave around friends.
Conflicts in Hunter x Hunter need not be based on combat. Certainly it is a common setting for it but we have also had dodgeball games, jogs, arm wrestling, and so on. When Meruem challenged the national masters of various board games, the stakes were clearly life and death and it is clear that the other masters were defeated.
