Hornbill Festival - called the 'Festival of Festivals' is a Naga cultural spectacle held every year in Nagaland during the first week of December.
Among the North-Eastern states, Nagaland stands out as a land of diverse tribes, systems of governance, cultures, sheer colour and variety. As its 16 major tribes hold their festivals each calendar month of the year, Nagaland is often referred to as the “land of festivals”.

The Festival is named after the hornbill, the globally respected bird and which is displayed in folklore in most of the state’s tribes. The week long festival unites one and all in Nagaland and people enjoy the colourful performances, crafts, sports, food fairs, games and ceremonies.

Events. There is hardly a dull moment during Hornbill festival. One can get immersed with the rich culture and heritage of Nagas displayed by the colourful dances and songs or get entertained with other colourful events. There are religious and ceremonial parades.
