Sep 6, 2020 · 2018 is far better, but can’t go wrong with either one. Just to get a feel about who Kratos is get GoW3. Start with 3. I'd definitely go for God of War III rather than GoW 2018, especially if you're looking to get in to the series as a whole. It's the best of the OG games.

PPSSPP for the PSP entries, PCSX2 for GOW 1and 2, and RPCS3 for 3 and ascension, though you need a beefy CPU to run RPCS3 well. I can see that a change was needed from the previous concept, but I joined the party pretty late with the remaster being my first gameplay in the GOW series. And man, that game was way better than I had ever expected.

God of war 3 is on sale digitally on ps4 right now for $6. Just get it there. It doesn't change graphically, but the PS4 version is 1080p 60FPS. They do look pretty much the same, the PS4 version simply upgraded definition and frame rate.
